“Stolen Childhood” 2026
Painting, Oil on Canvas
110 W x 90 H cm
Stolen Childhood is a painting about children whose lives have been forever changed by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Four children’s faces emerge from a dark, fragmented space — vulnerable, frightened, and painfully silent. They represent thousands of Ukrainian children who have lost their homes, their sense of safety, and sometimes the people closest to them.
The words incorporated into the painting speak of something every child should have — a mother, a father, a home, and a childhood without war.
Through expressive brushwork and fragmented composition, I wanted to convey vulnerability, loss and memory — and the tragedy of a childhood that should never have been stolen.
